why: MMMJP is code for my personal blog series since March 2025 titled My Mondrian Mondays Journal Page(s). Mondrian is Piet Mondrian, a famous Dutch artist, best known by school kids for his geometric block paintings. Typically he painted with a limited color palette. Many of mine have used lots of tones and even added neutrals of grays and browns to his white and black.

Don't Throwaway Scraps Thursday 4 December 2025

Paper Rocks Scissors challenges #11 design team project on 2 Dec 2025

how-to & vendor notes for #1 =

1. Papers/cardstocks:

a. plaid print paper = Recollections

b. white CS = Georgia Pacific

c. watercolor print CS = Crafter's Square (multi-colors pack)

2. Scissors used = to cut white (middle base layer) CS to 5.5" square + plaid paper for the bottom base to be seen in the punched holes; the watercolor CS was trimmed on 1 side reducing the 6" square down to 5.5" square; scissors also used for cutting 2 long lengths of cording to weave through and have enough for a large knotted bow.

Last Monday was skipped because of a head cold and also with hubby still recovering from a severe upper respiratory virus. yuck... Mondrian is for the famous Dutch artist from the late 1800s to early 1900s who did lots of geometric color block paintings. The color palette for #27 is for a current challenge at Cupcake Inspirations; see below.

1. Google Slide template picked for creating a digital holiday card

a. background color switched from white to a light teal

b. added the sentiment in the title space; shortened the width; changed font style and size

c. added the greenery and snowy image under the sentiment (from Google source)

d. added a cartoon digital clipart free to use reindeer image from The Clipart Library website that I downloaded and inserted; sized to fit the space between the border lines

e. holly clipart (from Google source) added to opposite corners to help viewers eyes to track from top left to bottom right

why: this posting features a non-design team project to share at several current challenge blogs owned by others. I was going through some scraps that were piling up on my kitchen table (that I took over for the past 2 years of so for my crafting work space) and found the dark brown scrap panel, the red slimline size and 2 pieces of the strawberry print that were large enough to use my circle punch on. Add some wood butterflies inked with Walnut brown  and the 'hello' with the same ink along with the 2 cute sloth stick-ons to make a cute encouragement card!

why: I'm switching my MMMJP #26 personal series posting from another personal blog that I use for the bulk of my DT commitments. MMMJP is the acronym for My Mondrian Mondays Journal Page because of a journaling notebook of geometric/partial grid-graph paper designs loosely influenced by famous Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. why: This post shares my newest design team inspiration project for #10 challenge at Paper-Rocks-Scissors owned by friend Deanne. The premise of her challenge blog is easy: anything goes using paper and/or scissors. On this 'blessings' card, I've used straight blade scissors and a decorative edge pair along with ivory, dark brown and green solid cardstocks plus two floral print papers. 

when: #10 challenge starts November 2 and ends on November 30, 2025.

what: Project #1 = "Blessings"

how-to &/or vendor notes for #1 = darker harvest season colors

1. ivory cardstock 4.25" x 5.5" folded card with matching envelope = from pack = Crafter's Square; only used 1 panel; edges distressed using scissors

2. dark brown cardstock panel (just under 4.25" x 5.5") trimmed with deckle-edge decorative scissors = Colorbok

3. green cardstock panel is about 3.5" x 3" = Pen + Gear

4. two floral print papers, border sticker, 3 ephemera = from The Simple Life collection by Simple Stories

5. green enamel hearts and clear gems = from different packs = Crafter's Square
