CHD 15 December 2020 challenge month using Christmas Bells image

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy crafty heart got frustrated over the past few days leading up to the deadline for my design team inspiration card for CHD...ugh! But I put aside a lot of other things tonight that should have been done and made my DT project 3 times!!! Well, 3 variations. Two are same size (4" x 6") and were printed on gold honeycomb cardstock. And the 3rd card has a smaller printed image on white cardstock (3.5" x 5"). I need more Christmas cards within the next 10 days anyway, so hopefully the stress will level out soon (or at least that's my rationale!)

All three cards are on 5" x 7" card dimensions. The white base and gray-taupe base are flat/single layers whereas the deep red is folded. All card bases and their matching envelopes were purchased at The Paper Source website.

Createful Heart Designs Challenge blog and FB group are owned by a husband and wife graphic designer partnership. I chose the Christmas Bells digital image for the #27 December challenge. For participants the theme is Anything Goes. The challenge runs for a month, starting on December 15, 2020 and goes to January 14, 2021.

[A]: CARD #1 (the image is almost colored exactly like #2 except inside of bells has an olive green to help give a tonal connection to the plaid)

********************************

[B]: CARD #2 (the card is colored almost like the previous one except for the interior of the bells are gray to make the tonal connection to the short banner tag on the right)

*****************************

[C]: CARD #3 (this image's coloring hues were changed greatly--branch needles were give a reddish-brown colored pencil foundation layer and then gold glitter paint applied on top; a backdrop of light blue lines surround the image; bells are silver instead of gold as the previous 2 cards; ribbon has purple edging and diamonds with mauve-raspberry pink hue surround)

MTTC Blog no 447 Monochromatic Christmas Theme

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This will be a super quick post because I'm 2 days late in getting this written and released. Thankfully I had the card made early and posted in the team's blog site awaiting release! Whew!

My Time To Craft's #447 challenge's theme is Monochromatic Christmas. I decided for my DT card to do a tonal metallic gold and kraft brown for my 1 color and/or neutral. Card's fold is on the left so I could wrap the metallic ribbon around the whole front panel.

APTS Challenge Blog DT Card with Anything Vintage Theme for Dec 2020

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart was very happy to go vintage and hearken back to my childhood days in the 1960s for traditional red-green-white Christmas color trio!

APTS' theme for December 2020 is Anything Vintage so it doesn't have to be Christmas vintage. It could be a vintage car, or a fashion look, or feature a piece of 1950s furniture on your project.

Christmas Vintage Red-Green-White card=

A Place To Start challenge for December 2020 starts on Monday, Dec 7, 2020. Anything Vintage is the theme. Use the link to access APTS' posting and read all the details plus see what the other design team members have been inspired to create.

Slimline Style Go Boldly Birthday Card for a Nephew

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart is a tad sad but also excited that my youngest nephew is turning that mysterious and wonderful age of 16. Sixteen!!! Covid has complicated his ability to get his driver's license but hopefully soon the state will figure out a safe way to offer the road driving tests! Meanwhile I chose the inside sentiment to be "Go Boldly".

On the front panel, I was trying to envision a "Look out world, Here I come!" kind of look. The plastic overlay and the cardstock are both from Webster Pages. More details on those products will be further in the blog. His favorite colors are orange and green, so the base cardstock is a pale peach cardstock and a few of the plastic stars are neon orange (which the scanner light has bleached out to pale peach) and those contrast with the neon yellow and mint green tones found in the other products.

Design and vendor notes:

MTTC Blog no 446 Christmas Animals Theme

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart is always excited about Christmas cards however my creative vision sometimes takes a misstep. See the bonus or 2nd card in this post for my statement.

I like the card when it is standing up and viewing it from a foot or two away but up close, I don't. I don't know if it is the brown glitter reindeer at the topic or the different images in the washi tape or the contrast of patterned papers. I just know when I started pulling deer/reindeer items along with blue and gray papers, I thought I would be happy with the result instead of being so-so.

Now for the main card or #1 card--it was made after the other, so the pressure was on. Different orientation, papers, most of the colors, and most of the embellishments have produced a new look and a much improved personal satisfaction with the results!!!!

This challenging card is my design team project for My Time To Craft challenge blog's new theme fortnight challenge of Christmas Animals #446 starting 27 November 2020.

Quick and Easy Cards Using Scraps and Old Stash

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My heart's happy that the 2 birthday cards featured will get in the mail tomorrow (Monday morn) and hopefully arrive to the recipients in time. The other thinking of you encouragement card is for my childhood best friend's mom. It's been awhile since I sent her a card.

I apologize that the very thick felt embellishments used on the birthday cards makes for horrible scanning! Cute--yes! Mailing friendly--no! But worth the extra postage--yes! The front side has been covered with a plain index card inside their envelopes to help protect and hopefully will safeguard during transportation.

Masculine Autumn Themed Birthday Card

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! This 5" x 7" birthday card for my brother-in-law came together in about 30 minutes! That definitely makes my heart happy! The Granny Smith apples basket was printed and colored last year and has been waiting in my stash. The fox was stamped about 4-6 weeks ago and has also been waiting in the sidelines to be used!

The honeycomb gold CS strip and slate gray CS strip were the off-cuts trimmed for previous card bases. Likewise the sentiment strip is part of the off-cut from the base--about 4" long. The kraft and black checkered paper that I've been trying to bash since this spring has a scrap piece used here on the cover.

Inking on half of the edges was a finishing touch. Because this is for my brother-in-law, I've left off  my typical embellishments, trying to keep it fuss-free.

APTS Blog November 2020 Technique Challenge for Mirrored Stamping

Welcome to Becca's Heart for Creativity blog! My artsy-crafty heart got nervously excited about trying this technique! Luckily my sister gave me a set of autumn theme stamps that included some leaves. This trio 'branch' stamp I thought would be the perfect choice. It's not a true mirrored image if you look closely, but a reversed rotation...sneaky...did you even notice before I said anything?

And if you look online, there are several ways to do this. Also most of my DT crew mates have mirrored their images side by side rather than doing a 'water reflection' type mirroring. I thought having the solid color cardstock base of the buttery yellow contrasted with the cocoa brown and raspberry patterned paper has enough visual contrast to do the flip-flop of the stamping. What do you think?

Leaf Branch Thank You Card for APTS design team project November 2020=

Link to the APTS posting requiring mirrored stamping for Nov 2020=

a few little ink smudges and one leaf got a bit more ink pressed on it compared to the rest but to me that's a bit more realistic to nature where there is so much hue variances leaf to leaf and even within a leaf.

Supply-wise notes:
a. the patterned papers are scrap pieces from papers purchased probably 10 years ago!!!
b. the 'thank you' is gold foil 'remains' cut from a sheet of dazzles (Paper Wishes website product)!!! I thought having the white background of the thank you with the gold foil was a good complement to the floral patterned paper and the buttery yellow cardstock.
c. leaf branch stamp is part of Jen Hadfield's "Warm and Cozy" 2019 set of clear acrylic stamps available at Pebbles Inc and distributed by American Crafts
