Birds of a feather flock together...no birds were harmed in creating this scrapbook layout! :) February Challenge 2 at CKC is feathers

3 of  my nieces were able to be at their grandma's and visit one of the family farms to do some exploring with their great uncle and great aunt, so the birds and feathers emphasis for one of the listed challenges became a good fit to use with this photo.

DESIGN NOTES FOR CHALLENGE ELEMENTS=

a. for UYS= magical--sweet time for the girls to be together 

b. for DT= Thing #1 Tic-Tac-Toe board--diagonal of die-cuts with pocket cards on the bottom half; image of photo; and blue hues from the feathers, base cardstock, and soft light blue tones throughout others

c. for LRW= movement--location of brads in bottom left corner can be reversed in their placement and if there are rotated upwards, they will review a very charming 'steam punk' bird!!!

d. for CKC= feathers--2 large feathers cut from a scarf and 4 pocket cards have birds/feathers-wings and the base paper's title and hidden bird are also part of the feathers' elements

Love this layout! It was fairly easy to assemble! I spent under an hour on it last night and only about 15 minutes on it this morning before taking photos. That's taking longer...photos and blogging...oh, well!!!

Card-making: Thinking of you created w/ coordinating papers

I wanted a beautiful card for my aunt. Coral is the "hot" hue for fashion this spring and this deep coral is striking with the blue-gray and creamy beige colors.

Glitz and glam add bling to this 4" x 6" birthday card for my mom this week. The color combos of the pattern papers make it feel vintage but the mixing of patterns certainly makes it feel retro "Moxie Fab"-ulicious!

Thanks to Jolee's All That Bling for the metallic jewel flowers, flourish swirls, and jewel stick-ons. Thanks to Kaisercraft for the pattern papers and DCWV for the adhesive-backed steel gray cardstock.

By using my own stashed supply of shapes templates and French curve stencils, this card was fairly easy to put together in less than an hour (and that includes the fussy-cutting of the flower shapes shown in the inside view).

Hope Mom likes it as much as I do. Happy #72, Mom!

Moxie Fab Challenge for Tuesday Trigger is Perty and Flirty

Hi! It's late Sunday night and I'm going to make this super quick posting so I might meet the deadline! (We're trying to starting moving 100 miles east so I can take a new teaching position and I had a funeral this week for a great uncle. I haven't had time to create and have artistic fun! (:

Perty and flirty trigger photo had lots of pleated ruffle effects of the fabric. I've tried to re-envision that look with the looped ribbon, the cascading circle shaped papers and the scalloped border.

The "best wishes" and "congratulations" are message ribbons from Martha Stewart Crafts. The background turquoise blue print and striped print papers (as well as the leaf print paper and repeated blue shown inside) are from Kaisercraft's Peachy Keen Paper Pack. The rest of the papers, brown sheer ribbon, brads, brown cardstock/card base are re-used from a CardMaker kit of the month. That also include the stamp used for the "A Special Hello".

My husband has a great niece who looks very similar to the angel in the bookmark image that I've cropped to use on the card. So the card is going to her mother/his niece as a thinking of you card.

To reinforce the angel image, I've taken a white doily and cut in half (almost),pleated, and stapled each section then adhered to the back side of the image. The angel bookmark was received as 'junkmail' from an organization wanting me to purchase their product. I kept the bookmarks and have re-used one of the images for this card creation.

Kaisercraft's Peachy Keen 6" paper pack is the source for the front view background paper. I thought the colors enhanced the angel image very well.

The edges were inked using a chocolate brown ink stamp pad.

"Our Bridgette" can be quite mischievous but she is a very sweet charming young girl!
