AHB challenge #1 for January 2018

Lots of exciting things going on in the crafting world. Some other crafters decided to start a new monthly challenge blog about birthdays called "Always Happy Birthday" or as I've shortened it "AHB".

https://alwayshappybirthday.blogspot.com/2018/01/january-challenge-birthday-pink-card.html

Since to submit on the blog and have your creation qualify for the sponsored prize, I am required to use pink base. With this particular blog, you can do a BIRTHDAY card or you can do a gift tag, invite, party décor, scrapbook layout, etc. as long as it's birthday related. With using pink, I usually like to match it with a green. Pink is technically a tone of red so green is its complement on the color wheel and the natural highlight to bring out the best of pink/red.

My January birthday card features a sweet snowman in the midst of pinks and greens and party things.

Isn't this just the sweetest and most festive small birthday card you have ever seen?

The base is folded on left side and overall dimensions are about 3.25" x 5.25" and edges are inked in green. The designer papers are also inked in green and both are from The Paper Studio by Hobby Lobby. The "HB" and inside sentiments were printed on "Martian Green" Astrobrights cardstock by Neenah Papers, Inc. (I did use a cake stencil from an old Tupperware product marketed as "Tuppertoys".) The green ribbon and pop-art style birthday party hat and cupcake were items purchased at Dollar Tree. The snowman image was found online, printed in black and white, and then colored with markers. I then cut it out with about 1/8-1/4" inch margin and mounted to pink paper so that it's edges and colors would stand out some from the designer papers.

This overview shows depth of stick-ons and a glimpse of inside.

With just "HB" on the cake stencil on the front panel, I thought I would print up some funny variations to have as sentiment on the inside.

Go to this new blog to check out the general rules, guidelines for this challenge and details about the prize and how to post, when to post, etc. Also there is a small crew for the design team. Make sure to see their inspirations and leave a comment on the post AND/OR visit their blogs that are linked in their name. I can post up to 4 times until January 29th so this is 1x. Yahoo!
